What we teach
Start where you are. The practice grows with you.
The path — Foundation to Established
Foundation
60 minWhere the practice begins. New students learn the fundamental standing poses, forward bends and balances of Iyengar Yoga with close individual attention.
Developing
75 minFor students who've completed Foundation, or who bring prior yoga experience to NPYR. Sequences lengthen. The enquiry into the subject deepens.
Established
90 minFor students with an established practice. Longer sequences. Inversions, backbends, pranayama. Attention moves from the outer body inward — from doing toward observing.
Also on the timetable
Led practice
75 minA guided group practice. You're taken through a set sequence together, holding poses longer than a regular class allows — a chance to deepen what you already know.
Pranayama
45 minThe practice of breath. Seated and reclined on props, you learn to lengthen and steady the breath. Quieter work — the mind settles with it. Best suited to students with an established asana practice.
Restorative
75 minRest, held and supported. Props carry the body through long, passive holds and the pace slows right down. Open to every body, and welcome after illness, injury or a demanding week.
